securing the borders
so I went to Borders this afternoon to buy a book, of all things. but this, my friends, is but the surface level of my trip.
it was my second trip in as many days, and my third purchase in two days. this alone should be noted.
also, i was asked, upon my purchase, if i was a borders member, which indeed I am. i took out my card, they swiped it, and i paid, expecting a discount because i'm a Borders member, an honor only given out to those with "just a few seconds," and with sufficient funds ($0). As i held my wallet in paying position for them to verbally deduce a small amount from the total ($13.75), there was a silence greater than that a night sky. my cashier did not say anything, and I didn't budge, until I realized that indeed I was not to receive a deduction in my owed amount. I took my plastic bag and book in disgust.
I ask you friends, what is the point of bearing the burden of a Borders Rewards Card Member if not for the discounts? And, thus being the case, should I not have received some sort of payment for my quick retrieving of my card when countless impatient citizens were in the line in back of me?
this injustice must be stopped. set fire to your local Borders, break their windows with thy stones, rearrange the self-help books, do anything you can. update me on your progress weekly, on thursdays.

"would you like you like a borders card today"
*recieves blow to head from book titled effective managment*
"are you sure sir, it only requires a minute and an email adress?"
indeed they do, but were you to plan on getting a special person in your life a piece of clothing, you would not go to a thrift store, am I correct?
also, there is little value in shopping for books online other than actual economic value. i like holding the books in my hands, flipping through the pages, stumbling across something i've never heard of but instantly wanting to read it. i also see people I know at the bookstore, and i like the ambiance. it breaks up these bleak post-summer pre-doing anything days.
going on amazon or half.com involves "click...click....click...click..."
in an unrelated matter, I buy all my books for classes on half.com
